Never Forget the Original Aspiration, Forge Ahead with the Mission—Yingda Young Lawyers' 'Thought Education Theme Activity' Second Presentation Successfully Concludes

To further implement the requirements of the Hubei Provincial Lawyers Association, the Department of Justice, and the Wuhan Municipal Bureau of Justice for strengthening the training of young lawyers in various firms, following the successful conduct of the first "Thought Education Theme Presentation" on August 8, 2020, Yingda Law Firm, in accordance with the unified arrangement of the firm's affairs committee, organized the second "Thought Education Theme Activity" for all young lawyers on August 15, 2020. This event featured guest lectures by Lawyer Xu Yingming from our firm, Dean Wang Yongqiang, and Professor Lu Jian from Zhongnan University of Economics and Law. Director Li Ming, Deputy Director Jin Lu, and 27 young lawyers from Yingda Law Firm participated, with Deputy Director Jin Lu presiding over the theme education activity.

On the morning of the event, Lawyer Xu Yingming explained "Criminal Defense Thinking from the Perspective of Judges" for young lawyers. With 18 years of practical experience as a judge in an intermediate people's court in another region, Lawyer Xu shared insights from a judge's perspective and summarized the "three dos and four don'ts" for lawyers in criminal defense. These included early intervention and familiarity with the case, early confirmation of basic facts and legal application, early determination of defense strategy, and avoiding low-level errors in substance and procedure, among other points. After the lecture, Lawyer Xu shared common reference tools used by criminal trial judges, providing young lawyers with a deeper understanding of handling criminal cases in the future.

Following this, Dean Wang Yongqiang from the School of Law and Notary at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law spoke on "Several Choices in the Growth of Young Lawyers." Drawing from personal experiences in work and life, Dean Wang offered advice to young lawyers in three aspects: the basic mode of work, the configuration of work results, and the positioning of social roles. He emphasized the importance of work attitude over work ability, the concept of lawyers sharing the cause and benefits with the team and the firm, and the idea of lawyers being "experts in various fields," mastering not only legal expertise but also knowledge in economics, politics, and management. Dean Wang's sharing allowed young lawyers to identify their existing issues and clarified the direction for future efforts.

In the afternoon session, Professor Lu Jian from Zhongnan University of Economics and Law lectured on "Civil Code," focusing on new rules related to the contract and property sections of the Civil Code. This included new content related to the right of residence, the explicitization of implicit guarantees, and the "super priority effect rule" of the purchase price guarantee right. After the lecture, Professor Lu engaged in a lively discussion with the young lawyers on various legal issues. The afternoon's courses left the young lawyers eager to learn more, providing them with a comprehensive understanding of the property and contract sections of the Civil Code.

As the event approached its conclusion, many young lawyers expressed that the theme education activity was meaningful and beneficial. They pledged to make the legal profession a lifelong practice, solidify their legal knowledge, enhance their professional abilities, uphold the rule of law, and strive to become outstanding legal professionals, growing together with the firm.

The Yingda Young Lawyers' "Thought Education Theme Activity" is planned to last for five weeks, with a total of five themed activities. In the coming week, activities will include a visit to Yingda Law Firm's old office, a review of the oath for young lawyer party members, and a themed team-building activity. It is believed that the young lawyers at Yingda will overcome challenges and continuously improve their professional qualities and practice skills through this theme education activity.
